1969 Chevelle Super Sport convertible in rare Monaco Orange - a Corvette color
- only available on the 1969 Chevelle if equipped with the Super Sport option. This
car underwent a frame-off restoration in 2004/2005. In general appearance it looks
just as it did when it rolled off the final assembly line in GM’s Kansas City assembly
plant during the second week of July, 1969. The suspension has been upgraded using
Hotchkis suspension components and the engine has had some mild performance related
upgrades. Other than that, it is pretty much as it was in 1969.
Options on the car include Soft Ray tinted glass (A01), Strato front bucket seats
(A51), Power convertible top (C06), front compartment floor console (D55), side paint-stripe
(D96), posi-traction rear axle (G80) 3.73 ratio axle (H05), 396/350 HP Turbojet (L34),
4 speed transmission (M20), Comfortilt steering wheel (N33), power steering (N40),
instrument panel gauges (U14), AM pushbutton radio (U63), rear view mirror with reading
light (UF1), and the Super Sport option (Z25).
The car is a true pleasure to drive. It starts right up with no hesitation, runs strong
and shifts smoothly. There are no shakes or rattles even at highway speed. There are
no leaks of any kind. All lights, gauges and power top work perfectly. The body is
laser straight and the paint is near flawless. The car does get driven and enjoyed
on sunny, dry days yet the undercarriage is still extremely clean. This is a very
solid, frame off restored car with absolutely no rust issues whatsoever. The car has
a correct 396 replacement engine. There is no paper documentation, however the paint
code of Monaco Orange as desiginated on the Factory Original Trim Tag proves the car
a true Super Sport. The color, engine and transmission combination makes this a rare
Chevelle indeed!
