Well, on October 23, 2003 the wagon (finally) arrived here. It is a bit rough around the edges but the body is solid and it appears to all be there. I hope to post some new pictures when I get the body off the frame. I've already inventoried the parts and I am beginning the disassembly process. I hope to have a complete rolling chassis and drivetrain complete by the end of next summer. I hope the budget holds up!

This page is dedicated to the restification project of my 1965 Chevelle Two-Door wagon. At this time the wagon is still in California but should be arriving soon. I plan to post many new pictures of the progress of the project as it moves along. At this point the only pictures I have to share are pictures provided by a friend of my new project car. It doesn't look like much but it is a solid California original. The history of the car is pretty vague but it is model number 13215 so I do know it was originally a V-8 car though I don't know what transmission it had originally. It was very low optioned which is not a surprise given that the 2-door wagons were buried in the base model Chevelle 300 line.

This car was built the fourth week of March 1965 at the Baltimore assembly plant. It was originally Sierra Tan Metalic (goldish) with a Fawn bench seat interior. It originally had a 10-bolt open rear end so it likely had a 283/Powerglide drivetrain. Once I actually get the car I may be able to determine more.

The Chevelle 2-door wagons were produced only in 1964 and 1965 model years. They were produced in very low numbers probably due to being trapped in the base model line which offered few creature comforts. The only floor covering offered were rubber mats! In 1965 only 1,668 2-door wagons were produced. Of those, only 653 were built with V-8's. This makes my wagon infinitely more rare than even my L79 coupe!

While my Super Sport was restored down to incredibly fine detail, this car will be modified to a great extent. The original drivetrain is long gone so I wouldn't have much to build upon anyway. I really do prefer restored cars but it will be fun and exciting to hot rod one for a change. Besides, I gravitate to factory muscle and this car likely never had much to brag about in that territory.

Future plans for the car will include:

This should be a fun project for me. Please check back occassionally for updates of the progress of the project.
