Body Restoration

Summer/Fall 1999:

I was prepping the car for transport to the body shop, AutoKraft of Lincoln, Nebraska. I had already had the rough body work done on the shell (bead blasted, hang a new driver's quarter, rough body work and primer). In the Spring I had a little party at my shop for all my friends who helped me lift the fresh shell off the mule frame and onto the freshly prepared chassis.

Here it is ready to go with the front clip on.

Mid April 2000:

The car is finally in the shop! Work has finally begun on the final prep for paint. The body shop owner who is working on the car is not completely thrilled with some of the work done by a previous shop so he is blocking it again, redoing some welds and generally making it better.

Here is Doug the shop owner and resident body expert giving the quarter panel a finishing touch.

Next step: into the paint booth! The final prep and sanding is done and the body is close to being paint ready.
