Car Shows 2004

Of course one of my goals for this car during this and the previous restorations was to show the car. It is great fun to share this car and it's history with interested folks at car shows and cruises. This page will recap the shows and larger cruises I attended in 2004. I don't plan to attend too many shows with the car this year as I'll be concentrating on working on my new wagon.

World of Wheels, Omaha, Nebraska, March 12-14, 2004

Well, this year started a little eariler than those in the past. Amazingly the weather in March for the show move-in and exit was pretty decent. March is still firmly Winter in Nebraska so this was a pleasant surprise.

An Chevelle friend also made up a new show sign for me. It really looks great.

Mid-America Chevelle Regionals, Olathe, KS August 6-7, 2004

The Mid-America Chevelle Regionals gets better every year. It is an ACES event and has grown in size over the past three years. This year they had two levels of judging available. The first is a 1000 point style judging system where the cars compete against a 1000 point judging standard. The other system was a participant judging group where cars in each category competed for Top Three awards with the ballots being cast by show participants. I chose to compete in the 1000 point system. My car scored 971 points out of 1000 and received an "Ultimate" award.

This year my car was also photographed for a definitive book on Chevelles which is in the works. More on that when details become available.

Last Fling 'Til Spring, West Point, NE September 19, 2004

Once again the Heartland Chevelle Club attened the show with many cars. I managed to score a first place trophy against some tough competition. The bummer of the day was that my car received a small dent in the door from a flying shade umbrella that got caught in a wind gust. I hope to have the ding fixed soon, hopefully by a paintless dent repair process. The high point of the day was presenting a copy of the 1:18 diecast replica of my car to Tom who was the salesman who ordered and sold my car when it was new. I think receiving the model of the car really made his day.

That's it for 2004!
